Great Tips You Need to Know About Saving Money on a HDTV

By Jamie Andrews

If you are looking to buy a HDTV, you could save lots of money by reading these useful tips. Who doesn't want to save some extra cash?

Find plenty of information on the TV you are wanting to purchase. Check it has all the features you require, find out which size screen would be most ideal.

1) Go for 720p or 1080i instead of 1080p when purchasing a 32 inch or smaller.

Anyone can debate the advantages of 1080p over 1080i and 720p, but real truth of the matter is that 1080p really isn't important until getting into the larger screen sizes, above 32". Buying 1080p at 32" or below is pointless and a waste of money if a similar 720p/1080i model is available for a hundred pounds less.

2) Pick a decent brand. There a literally loads of makes out there to choose from, Sony Bravia and Samsung are popular makes, however, there are many other good makes out there such as LG, Toshiba and Panasonic. Do some research and find out what reviews they receive.

3) Don't bother with an extended warranty. In many cases it's not worth paying extra for an additional extended warranty. After 3 years the TV may be worth very little, take it in to consideration when deciding on extended warranties.

4) Wait for a newer model to come out and then get the previous model. As soon as a newer model comes out, the previous models usually quickly fall in price, this is a great time to buy one.

5) Buy refurbished. Save loads when buying a refurbished HDTV, they usually cine with decent warranties. A returned TV with a slight scratch could save you 100.

6) Find a useful site to help you choose. I used http://www.hdtvbestdeals.co.uk to help me choose. The site offers the latest HDTV's with ratings and features, including a link to the best buy.
