You can critic how good a product or service is by how fast it goes from being the new pick on the block to being considered an absolute requirement. And, judging by how fast the digital video recorder has vanished from being an unknown product to being an integral part of lots of people's home entertainment systems, it can certainly be said that the DVR is an incredibly reliable product. I would venture to say that the majority of folks who are using DVRs currently would consider them a requirement for television viewing and that, within the next couple of years, the majority of television viewers will join these ranks. It seems that just a few days (if not just a few hours) with one of these devices will convert even the most doubtful of the ranks into somebody who believes that it is one of the finest inventions to strike the television market since color television.

One of the reasons why the DVR has been adopted by so many folks is that companies like Comcast Cable have made it extremely effortless to get ahold of these devices. There tends to be a minor charge for having DVR service, but it is so tiny and is occasionally integrated in the programming package charge, depending on exactly what service you decide on. Since it is extremely inexpensive, the DVR is available to everybody and can offer a number of essential advantages. Additionally, when people hear about how great the DVR is from friends and then find out how inexpensive it is to add to their own service, the majority of folks will choose to go ahead and add the digital video recording service to their own entertainment package.

I will venture to say that you are probably familiar with the idea of the DVR by now since you have probably either seen somebody use one or have used one yourself. Probably the first time you saw one in use, you thought to yourself, wow- that thing is splendid! As a matter of fact, this is probably the most typical reaction that a person getting acquainted with this device will partake of. After all, the DVR combines all of the greatest features of the electronic program guide and a VCR and pretty much turns your entire television into one giant on demand system. When you receive a Comcast DVR, you gain control over any programming you locate in your on screen program guide and can record anything to watch later on.

One of the most exciting parts of the DVR isn't even that it can record programming to view later. It is that you can achieve more control over live programming. Let's say you really want a snack but don't desire to miss a moment of your show- just press pause and resume when you get back. Or, maybe you are extremely tired of commercials. Begin recording your show but don't start watching it until a couple of minutes in. Then, when a commercial break hits, just fast forward. If you time it right, you can in fact finish up your recorded program (sans commercials) at exactly the same time the live show ends! There are also millions of other neat tricks that you can quickly find once you bring one of these Comcast DVRs into your house.

Yup, the DVR is absolutely one of the best TV devices in existence and is sure to be upgraded and altered to be made even better over the coming years. - 30542
