Why Should You Choose An LED Monitor?

It is very likely that you have an LCD monitor attached to your desktop computer. If your monitor is less than twelve inches deep but more than one inch in depth, then you are reading this article on an LCD monitor or plasma monitor. You may love or hate your monitor, but you may find that you love LED monitors.

LED monitors use a different back light source than your current monitor. They use LED lights placed around the perimeter of the screen for lighting. The tubes in your current monitor only have a lifespan of three to four years before they begin to loose brightness. Unfortunately, there is no way for you as a consumer to replace those tubes. If your computer begins to loose its brightness, your only choice is to replace the monitor. In addition, although lighter than the monitors they replaced, LCD monitors are still heavier and thicker than LED monitors. Part of the thickness is due to the size of the florescent tubes. In contrast, LED monitors are very thin, especially if they are the edge lit type of monitor. It is the introduction of these monitors that make the ultra thin notebooks of today possible.

The florescent tubes in LCD monitors do not produce a full range of color of light. Therefore, there will be some of the LCD crystals that do not appear as bright when certain colors are lit compared to others. This may cause the image to appear to be blurry or less clear than the same image on an LED monitor.

In addition, you will save energy with these newer monitors. While the amount may seem insignificant for a desk top computer, for a notebook or laptop computer less energy consumption means longer battery life.

Some users complain that the LED monitors are not evenly lit. This may be more of a matter of their eyes adjusting to using a new type of screen. Because the LED lights are placed around the edge of the display, the center may not be as bright, however this should not affect the overall use of the screen.

Other users find the screens too bright for their preference. One solution is to buy a monitor with a brightness control that will allow you to dim the screen if it causes problems for you. This can help you to avoid eyestrain.

Even though there are complaints, the LED monitor is one of the best available monitors on the market today. They are super thin, have great clarity and last longer than the LCD monitors that they are replacing.

Choosing a long life monitor is a great choice for the environment. This means that you will not need to purchase a new monitor every time you purchase a new machine. By purchasing fewer monitors, you can do your part to reduce electronic waste in landfills. Choose an LED monitor for the longer lasting monitor.
