LED Televisions Are The Next Big Thing

By Patty Johonson

The first LED lights were used in status and indicator lights. But, over the last six years or so, these amazing lights have started being used for far more than just these dinky little lights. Light-emitting diodes (LED) technology is now taking the world of television electronics by storm, and Samsung is leading the way.

These little light-emitting diodes are now overtaking the old CCFL (cold cathod flourescent lamps) as the main light source used in television sets, and Samsung's LED Full HD televisions are the first in this new class of tv to hit the market. Because of this new technology, people can now enjoy viewing their favorite shows with sharper, higher-contrast images. Even more, these televisions are sleeker and take up far less space their their old counterparts.

Samsung's LED TV's are also lending a hand in the fight to improve our environment by being energy-friendly, and lowering consumers' power bills. They are also more environmentally friendly to dispose of, as they don't use mercury, and therefore contribute less harmful chemicals to our environment at the end of their lifespan than the older model televisions do. LCD TV's only have a lifespan of about sixty-thousand hours. Compared to LED tv's forth-thousand viewing hours, it doesn't seem so great. But, because LED televisions save so much money in power consumption, it definitely ends up being worth it in the long run! LED tv's can, on the small scale, lower televisions' energy consumption by nearly 40% when compared to similarly sized LCD high-def tvs.

LED technology captures the natural colors of real life with the production of darker blacks, crisp whites, and strong contrast between dark and vivid colors. Samsung also enhanced its LED-powered products with Auto Motion Plus frame interpolation, which effectively reduces image judder and motion blur.

Auto Motion Plus Frame Interpolation or AMPFI incorporates a frame rate of 120 hz and mega contrast ratio into the brand's LED Full HD TV B6000, guaranteed to satisfy sports fans, video gamers, and movie buffs. The TV also has USB 2.0 Movie features for better enjoyment of music and images. - 30542
