My Changed NFL Season Life

By Erick Bocher

It has at long last begun. Football 2009.

In theory it began this past week on the smurf turf in Boise, ID in a contest ordained to be remembered for what took place afterwards the blunt Blount bash -more than anything that took place at a few point in the 60 minutes of regulation.

And presently the Steelers - seeking to become the 1st franchise ever since the Pats to do it again - began their Super Bowl defense with a satisfying win over Tennessee to begin the 2009 football season.

I identify I'm not as fruitful throughout NFL season. All of a sudden, I am only accomplishing stuff during commercials, if at all, on weekends, plus Thursday nights, Friday nights, and Monday nights.

Then throw in fantasy football - which drastically decreases the amount of time I would otherwise be productive, writing, or doing something prolific-and lots more time than I am willing to confess get devoted to this game.

This time of year, I undoubtedly do not eat as well.

Wednesday night, I had fish with steamed veggies and went for a swim after a six mile jog.

Thursday (game day), I ate a super burrito, too many chips, several, some more chips, and watched the movie Max Payne following the game, before checking fantasy statistics for Kerry Collins and then staggering to bed, bloated from the chips.

Do not recognize if there are some football detox programs and even if there , I wouldn't voluntarily participate. Hopefully my family wouldn't stage some sort of intervention.

Fact is, I don't want to quit, but as a Broncos devotee that could change as the season progresses.

NFL and NCAA football are religion for a huge percentage of the population. We're corn chip-eating cult members following the rantings of Chris Collinsworth.

So it is on. The 2009 year began and, for better or for worse, life won't be the same until a month into 2010, when the natural football detox starts. - 30542
